Monthly Poetry Workshop

  • Black Birch Books (map)

Join local author Caitlin M.S. Buxbaum every second or third Wednesday, 5:30-6:30 p.m, from July through September, at Black Birch Books in Wasilla for a FREE poetry workshop! Each month, we will learn about and practice writing poetry in a specific form.

In September, we will learn a new form, TBD.

In August we learned how to write a golden shovel, a form invented by Terrance Hayes, as inspired by Gwendolyn Brooks. Learn more here.

In July we learned about ekphrastic poetry, which is poetry inspired by another (usually physical/graphic) form of art. Check out ekphrastic.net for examples!

Please bring pen & paper or your preferred writing tools and we'll provide the inspiration! Coffee and tea are also free
